About Us

Cravatex was incorporated in 1951 by Ram Kumar Batra and is part of The Batra Group.

At first, Cravatex owned the largest chain of dyers and dry cleaners in India and subsequently diversified into Garment Export, Textile Processing and Printing. The company was taken public on the Bombay Stock Exchange in 1979 and continues to be listed after more than four decades.

Today the company has evolved into a global Retail, Brand Licensing, Distribution and Sourcing company with a presence across the Indian Subcontinent, United Kingdom, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

The late Mr Ram Kumar Batra founded the Batra Group in 1949 after he moved to Bombay during the Indian Independence. Over the years Ram Batra gained a reputation for absolute integrity as he founded a group of businesses that ranged from textiles to plastics. He created Bandbox, a string of laundries that grew and diversified to become one of the largest chains of dyers and dry cleaners in India.

A compassionate philanthropist, he supported many medical, cultural, religious and sporting charities and was appointed Sheriff of Bombay.

Today his two sons Rajesh and Rajiv run the Group and have created an international group with a portfolio of brands, retail, fitness and exports.
